Preparing Existing Coated Skate Floor

1. Sanding / Abrading

Before applying  Roll-On Skate Floor Finish,  sand or abrade the existing skating surface to a dull finish with #80 grit mesh screens or #80 grit sand paper under large rotary floor polishers. It is not necessary to use a drum sander to prepare the skating surface. An automatic floor scrubber may be used for this procedure.   If using an automatic floor scrubber, DO NOT USE WATER.

IMPORTANT:     Paper should be changed after 500 square feet per disk. Mesh should be turned over after 500 square feet and changed after 1,000 square feet per disk.

2. Cleaning

After sanding, vacuum the abraded skating surface with a drum or canister vacuum.  Drag the surface carefully by soaking a large terrycloth towel in a bucket of CLEAR WATER. (DO NOT USE DETERGENTS OR SOLVENTS.) Wring out the towel until damp and wrap the towel around a 24" or 36" push broom. Push the towel across the width of the skating surface (NOT THE LENGTH). Upon reaching the other side, turn the towel over so that the clean damp side is face down to the surface and push it back to the other side. Overlap a little for cleaner surface.  Soak the used towel in clean water, wring out and repeat the process until the entire skating surface has been cleaned.

3. Repeat

Repeat "2. Cleaning" as necessary until the sanded skating surface is dust free.

Preparing Roll-On Skate Floor Finish for Application

NOTE: Allow good ventilation. Avoid flames and prolonged contact with skin. Wear disposable gloves to keep hands clean. Clean rollers and equipment with mineral spirits after use.

Prepare Color Roll-On before Application

1. DO NOT DILUTE

2. Open all the containers you anticipate using for one coat. Manually stir each can of color Roll-On until it is consistent in color.

3. After stirring all the Roll-On containers, return to the first Roll-On container and stir it thoroughly again.

4. Immediately pour the mixture from the first Roll-On container through a fine mesh wire strainer into a two-gallon garden-type sprinkling can. This leaves 3 gallons in the first Roll-On container.

5. Thoroughly stir contents of a second Roll-On container, pour it into the first container and stir again. This method of blending, known as boxing, insures color consistency and must be repeated with all containers until floor application is complete.

Prepare Clear Roll-On before Application

Pour the Roll-On skate floor finish from the container through a fine mesh wire strainer into a two-gallon garden-type sprinkling can. DO NOT DILUTE.
